SoftDays.io is my online journal, all about slow living, in a way that is full and vibrant.

About Me

I’m Rhi.

I’m in my late thirties, I live alone, and in 2010 I made a big decision to leave my home country and move across the world in search of sunshine. What started as a change of scenery slowly (very slowly) became a complete shift in how I think about life, work, and what “enough” really looks like.

For most of my life, I assumed that doing well meant being constantly switched on, exhausted, and always pushing for the Next Big Thing. A pay rise, a promotion, more “things”, more events. But, a few years ago, I realised that didn’t have to be true. I could still excel professionally and personally whilst building a life that felt calm, more intentional and frankly, actually happy.

Without even knowing that “slow living” was a thing, I began shaping my days by creating routines that support me, leaving space for rest, and finding pleasure in small, ordinary moments. This isn’t about being lazy or doing nothing. It’s about filling your days in ways that enrich you.

The result is a life that’s gentle without being empty. Calm, but full. One that allows room to recharge, to enjoy, and to actually be present.

About SoftDays.io

Soft Days is where I write about the ways that I make life feel gentle and enjoyable. How your life can be full without being hectic. You’ll read about my adventures thrifting and antiquing, my love of plants, meal prepping and batch cooking. I’ll talk about traveling, finding new hobbies. Living frugally, not out of necessity, but as a conscious choice that brings freedom, creativity, and ease. I share practical ideas, habits, and small shifts that make everyday life feel more intentional. I’ll write about self-care, fitness, and the importance of staying active as a way of supporting both mental and physical health.

Living alone is a big part of this space. I talk openly about how living solo doesn’t mean being lonely, and how routines, connection, and a sense of purpose can make days feel full, steady, and satisfying. SoftDays is about building habits, a home, and a life that you genuinely enjoy, without the constant need to be busy, productive, or “on”.

People can confuse slow living with being lazy, or boring and just sitting at home. But this isn’t about opting out of ambition. It’s about choosing a slower pace that still leaves room for fun, growth, and a life that feels like you are really, truly living
